We have nt4 server with XP/Me workstations at HQ. At branch office are XP/Me workstations without server. Both sides equipped with Verizon DSL and Sonicwall Tele3 Firewall/VPN. Through the Sonicwall VPN, we can ping all the machines from either side. We can add branch's machine to NT4 domain througt VPN tunnel. We can also see each other machines by browsing the "My Netwotk Place". We can even see the shared folders. However, we are not able to access the files in the shared folders. Once we click on the shared folders, the error message says "Netwotk path not found, or premission deny". Any ideas?

yes, they need to be a part of the domain, as in they need to be logged into their machine on the domain, not just logged on locally. Or you need to set up the permissions to allow for anyone to have access to shared files on those machines. Or you will need to add everyone who wishes to get files from those remote machines to the local users on those remote machines. Or you can have everyone log into those machines as a local user of it to gain access. But it is a permission issue due to the domains vs. local authentication. The easiest and therefore least protective solution is to allow everyone access to all shared files. this will effectivly turn off authentication and allow for remote users to get to the files.
