Hello All,

In sonicwall, under the access option, in the services tab, how do you configure inbound and outbound traffic so that an email server can recieve and send email BUT will not allow WAN users to use the mail server? Basically, I want to make sure that WAN users will not be able to "see" the mail server. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Diana

If you are taking about not having an open relay on the mail server, this is more to do with mail server configuration and not the firewall. Your mail server needs to be open to port 25 connections from anywhere so that you can receive mail from other mail servers but it should only accept mail for the local domain.

You can find specific information here ..
If your mail server is picking up mail for the local domain from a POP3 server then you should block all inbound port 25 connections. In this situation you only need to allow outbound traffic from the server.
