We have two SonicWall's separated geographically across an MPLS network. We have two LAN networks that use VLANs to segment them,PC's are using VLAN 2 (Primary VLAN ID on the data switch ports) and the VOICE is using VLAN 10 (tagged in the switch). The switchport conencted to the SonicWall has an 802.1Q trunk with both VLANs using sub-interfaces.
Our IT guy wants to have the VLAN tag persist across the MPLS cloud. Note: The MPLS is capable of supporting VLAN tagging. But I was under the thought that the VLAN tag is removed when it hits the SonicWall and is routed out another interface (being the MPLS WAN Port).
Am I wrong in this thought, or does our IT guy have a valid request?
Thanks in advance!
