Hello to all!

I have 2 sites that each have a Sonicwall 2040 firewall at each site

Both internal IP schemes are 192.168.3.x

I want to connect the two sites together so that they act as 1 network.

I have email and web setup at the one site, and no servers here yet.

I have tried using the site to site VPN, but I see no tunnels

What am I doing wrong?

Brian

Hi Brian,

Each internal network has to have its own IP schemes e.g. 192.168.3.X for your main location and 192.168.4.X for your remote site in order to establish a tunnel. Once the tunnel is established resources from each site should be able to communicate across the tunnel if the correct firewall rules are in place e.g. LAN > VPN.

I think there is a way to do it if both sonicwall devices are running Enhanced OS, but it is rather difficult. Andrew's method is simple and sure to work.
