I am in Oklahoma City, and as you may know, we had an ice storm last week that brought all of us to our knees.

My network is set up like this.
I have 40 stores, each with a DSL circuit. On that circuit sits a vpn. On the remote network, i have one IP Phone (Avaya 5601). The IP406 and IPO Manager 5.2 is here at HQ. My problem is that when these stores lost power, some of the phones can no longer connect to the 406 unless I remove the profile and re build it. Then it seems to work fine until another power outage. This only happens at certain locations.

2 Questions.

1)What is happening that the phone cannot reconnect automatically.
2)Is there a better way to get the phone to reconnect without having to restart the 406 every time?

Thanks in advance.

"Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most!

What's the error on the remote phones? I appreciate you may not know due to the remote locations.

Thanks

Andrew

i think you can choose to reset that extension from manager under the extensions...but i guess that phone would have to be up and working for that to work.

Can you see the IP Phones in Monitor under IP Phone Status?

Is the DHCP working on site and set up with 176 option? I believe the 5601 HAS to have a DHCP available as it doesn't have a screen to assign addressing.

Is there a problem getting through to the TFTP Server???

When you say you removed the profile, what exactly did you rebuild. The IP Extn in Extension or the User or both??

When they don't start are they waiting for the user to put in the extn no???

I have never installed 5601's but have been told they can be a real pain in the rear!!!!!
