We have a Veritas 8.6 installed on a Windows 2000 server with exchange 2000. I am having a constant problem with this software since the day I installed. This server is backing up itself and the Novell server. SYS Volume.
Now it takes 12 hours to backup which it used to complete in 4 - 5 hours.

For the following reason it fails most of the time.

Sometimes it cannot Verify

Backup of "\\SERVER02\SYS "
Backup set #3 on storage media #1
Backup set description: "Backup 0001"
Backup Type: FULL - Back Up Files - Reset Archive Bit
Backup started on 6/02/2004 at 3:48:14 AM.
WARNING: "\sales\0_NewPriceList\NewUpdate\Input\DB1.mdb" is a corrupt file.

Can someone tell me if any service pack or any thing which has to be applied to veritas. Windows 2000 server is currently upto date.

are you switching the tapes yourself? at one of my clients, i have a worker switching the tapes and sometimes she forgets/pulls the tapes out too early. my jobs have sporatically in the 20HR range and it appears to be my "tape-switcher."

Yes I do switch the tapes myself. And I do it everyday.

I seem to be habving similar a problem. Have you found a solution to this yet?

1. Are you selecting the Novell server under Remote Selections, under Netware Services, or the Netware SMS Icon in BE? You should be using the SMS Icon.
2. This message -
WARNING: "\sales\0_NewPriceList\NewUpdate\Input\DB1.mdb" is a corrupt file.
This file cannot verify.

Was probably because the file was open when the backup took place.
3. ERROR: The Open File Option does not currently support the ability to follow mount points.
Means that you have told Backup Exec to follow mount points on Win2000 and tried to use OFO with it.
Either turn off OFO from the backup
or
I think this is on the Advanced tab - uncheck follow mount points.

4. Again the other 2 corrupt files, maybe because the files were open during backup.
