10gb Western Digital hard drive in Micron Pentium III 667 PC, Win 98. Recently windows and a few other directories somehow got corrupted so Windows wouldn't bootup, plus was getting "disk boot failure" message here and there. Had to fdisk, reformat and reinstall everything. Then ran virus scan and Norton Disk Doctor, no viruses found, disk checks out ok. No problems for about a week. Am now SOMETIMES getting the "disk boot failure.." message. Bios detects HD, ran diagnostics on HD, checks out fine, checked cable even replaced cable, but still get error message here and there. Again I'm getting this message intermittently. After shutting down and starting backup a few times computer boots up into Windows normally, but if restart or shutdown it may or may not boot up again. When it does bootup into Windows, it works fine no problems, have run disk doctor again, and it checks out fine. So don't know if it actually is HD or something else since like I said it seems to bootup after a few trys.
