Good Day all,

I wont go into details on what happened, but the short of it... I had a Linksys 5 port 10/100 switch connected to the network and someone plugged one end of a CAT5 cable into Port4 and the other end into Port5. Plugged a pc into Port 1 and then restarted the switch.

It killed the network...

I'm calling it a Broadcast attack, but does anyone know the technical term for this?

broadcast storm caused by bad user patching, spanning tree should have looked after this but I guess it has been disabled on the switch / not supported!!!!
