I use I.E. 5.5 for surfing. A couple times after surfing assorted Web sites my homepage (usually Altavista) was changed to Yahoo. When I checked my Settings>Control Panel>Internet Options I had an IP address (sorry I don't recall the numbers)listed as my homepage, but it was definitely Yahoo. It also keeps giving me an "About.Blank" pop-up window that opens along with the Yahoo homepage.

Is there anything I can do to stop this annoyance? Perhaps increase the security settings or refuse cookies?

libclark,

There are a number of different ways in which your homepage could have been hijacked. The removal and correction depends on the specifics. There is not enough information in your post but this link
should provide something to help you out.

Post back if you need more. Good luck.
