We are running a Windows 2003 AD network. We've brought up a new server to replace the aging domain controller. The new server has been set to take over all the DC functions:
Domain Name Master, Schema Master, RID Master, PDC Master are all set to the new server. The infrastructure master is a 3rd server that's also our RADIUS server.

The issue is that until a few weeks ago the old server still had its NETLOGON share active. I turned off the old NETLOGON share and some workstations stopped running logon scripts. Most continue to work fine. On the ones that aren't working right, I can manually browse to the new netlogon share and run the script fine.

Any ideas?

Find any errors in your event logs on both the servers and workstations? Initially, I'd be looking into replication issues... like the scripts hadn't been properly replicated to the new server...

I would check dns, make sure all workstations are looking at the correct dns server.

Is the old server still acting as a DC and accepting logon requests?

After some more digging it turns out it is as simple as the box still being a DC. Unfortunately now we're having issues with another DC and need to keep this one running for the time being. It never ends....Grrrr.... [banghead]
