Some vertical lines drawn on report seem to disappear when report is printed from PDF?

I have a report ( in late stages of development) which is quite large, so I often print it to PDF and send it to my manager.
He printed a few pages and some of the vertical lines (line tool) used as column separators or the line tool that i used to draw a box
around some field items is dropping off and missing. For instance, if there are 4 lines around a few fields like a box, the right most
vertical line in the box is not visible on the report if printed from the PDF? When printed from print preview or viewed on the screen, it is fine........

What have you done in order to trouble-shoot? Did you adjust margins? Did you try set the line width?

It seems that if I click the PDF/A option to make it ISO-19005-1 compliant, it displays and prints fine in Adobe.
