Hi all
I'm considering enableing Single Instance Storage on our mail file server as I know for a fact there are alot of duplicate files on there. But I have a few questions that I'm hoping somebody can help me out with:
1. Is there any way to calculate the savings before I enable it ? Eg, run a sis_groveller.exe download which would tell me all the duplicate files it finds ?
2. Are there any risks or gotchas that I should be aware of before enabling SIS ?
3. If I have two R2 servers which have the same DFS shares and folders, is it OK to have SIS enabled on one but not on the other ? Or should I enable on both ?
I have to say, on the box, SIS sounds quiet good. But I don't know how many people are using it on their file servers and I can't seem to find much on it other than the standard MS documentation. Would apprecaite any advice
