Hi All,

I'm new to MAS90 and only supporting it as a small part of a larger responsibility at my new job.

The users have stated that a few of their custom reports are not available on their workstations. However, they are available on the server that is hosting MAS90.

I would prefer that the users not use the server to do their daily tasks (this is a small business with less than 20 machines and novice users).

Any suggestions?

FYI, I installed MAS90 on the individual workstations with the WKSETUP procedure.

They will be located under x:\mas90\reports, but you should be able to access them already. What do you mean their custom reports are not available on their workstations but are available on the server??? How are they accessing them, what's the error message, etc.

It seems that I misunderstood what the users were saying.

It wasn't that they couldn't see the custom reports, it was that they were loading too slowly (over the network).

How can I speed this up?

Thanks and sorry for the confusion.

chances are, it is in fact the connection that is not allowing the report to collect the data it needs (generate) fast enough. Not too much you can do about that short of upgrading your network. Are these users located in the same office?

Are other users able to view the report fairly quickly? Have you tried it and get the same results?

Sometimes, the report may be edited to help speed things along, but not always, and that would require someone fluent in Crystal.

How long does it take this or these reports to generate? Are we referring to ALL reports, or just a few?

Let us know.

Thanks, jamor1999, for your input.

The network environment is a small office with 10 shared machines. The cabling is a disaster. They are using a 3Com hub to share data over a Win2000 domain; there is no internet connection.

No one can view these custom reports as fast as they want, unless they are sitting at the server. On the client machines, these custom reports - I'm told - can take up to 45 minutes to generate. But, on the server, they generate in seconds. From what I've seen, there are over 1000 records being processed for display in any given "custom" report.

I think you are correct in assuming that the network is in need of an upgrade.

One method that you can do is to setup and configure Terminal services for those that need the specific report that takes so long. This will speed up the reports. Issues will be the printer setup. If necesary review printing for TS at the Microsoft Site. An other issue with this is if you are using Win98 machines. You have a 90 day temporary license to check it out. Download the Remote Desktop client from Microsoft for better performance.

Did you try this -
select library master module/utilities/report manager
select the appropriate module from the drop down list
select the appropriate report from the second drop down list
change the name if necessary
click on the menu button
select the appropriate module (application list)
select the appropriate report
click on the add button
close that window
close report manager
check the custom reports menu in the appropriate module, the report(s) should now be listed.
