Backup Exec must be one of the worst offenders of hiding important information. Examples such as reporting an active job as "PENDING" with no indication what of why it is waiting abound. I found another example while evaluating this software (which at this rate will never go into production). After installing version 8.5 for NT/2000 half of the computers on my network show up with GREYED out checkboxes beside them and ABSOLUTELY no indication as to why this is so. I hate that.... tell me WHY you refuse to do something. Anyway.... from Explorer I can map a drive to anyone of these machines that BE refuses to backup. No explanation can be found by anyone I've asked for help..... Another couple of hours and I remove this application for good and try an offering from another vendor. 8(

I had the same problem. I'll bet the greyed out machines all have NT server loaded on them. You need to load the Remote Agent for Windows NT/2000. You should then be able to backup your machines. Don't forget to load the agent on the remote servers as well. Good luck. I like ArcserveIT better as a backup package.
