A friend has lent me his LaserWriter Pro 630 so I can get an urgent printing job done; my own PLW NT has 'fallen over'. He has only recently acquired the machine second hand and has not used it himself. There are no User Instruction manuals.
I am proceeding by trial and error but it would save me a great deal of time if some experienced Laser Writer Pro 630 user could please answer the following questions:
1. The printer produces a nice crisp test page on power-up except that the '600' graphic is faint at the top grading to solid at the bottom. Is this showing that the printer can handle grey scales or does it mean that the toner cartridge is nearly empty?
2. The test page has a printer network name which is left over from the previous owner; can I change this using the 'Namer' software that came with my PLW NT?
3. What driver do I need to use? I'm using a Mac Performa 5300 running OS 8.1 and Localtalk.
4. Using Localtalk, should I set the drum switch to '0' as for the PLW NT?
5. I want to print addresses on envelopes, 130mm by 130mm. Will the printer handle paper sheets/envelopes this small?
Best regards,
Pete W.
