Hi, I just installed my first Partner system, it went very smoothly and I just have a few unanswered issues if anyone can help. I'm mainly an IT guy, but a client asked me to give this a try(he had already bought all the hardware) and see what I could do. And it's turned out really well. It's an R7 with one 308EC & the Partner Messaging with 15 34Ds, one Cordless & one Doorphone. I also need to be able to open two doors and have a Contact Closure Adjunct for that. This is actually all for one house and uses just two mailboxes.

What's the best way to program a phone button to allow for the quickest entry into the voicemail box. I know I can do 777, but can I automate it to actually login and play the messages?

What do you find is the quickest way to listen to messages,? There just seems to be so many extra prompts/announcements.

With regard to Outcalling, when using multiple numbers, does the system send out the call sequentially or does it stop after someone picks up?

And finally, I have one Avaya Door Phone with the controller, is the controller actually necessary and does anyone have suggestions on the best way to install it?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide,

Michael Williams

You can put Intercom-777 on a button, but you can't add the extension number and password - security issue, so someone can't just go to a phone and listen to someone else's messages.

Once you are used to the menus, you can press the Messages button, then "#-Password-#-2-0" to hear the 1st message's body (# signifys the extension's own mailbox, 2 is get messages, 0 is play the body of the message)

Read the manual's section on outcalling - yes, it is sequencial; yes, it stops outcalling when someone logs in and listens to the message, or presses the prompt to avoid further notification of that message, or the outcalling list and attempts are exhausted.

You don't need the controller, as you have contact closures built in. Program buttons on phones to activate the contacts. The controllers have a DTMF sniffer, that listen for a certain sequence to trip their contacts.

The door phone that comes with the Door Phone Controller is different than the regular analog door phone and is programed differently.I prefer using the door phone controller for the simple fact of how the door phone rings in. Standard door phone will "ding dong".The door phone controller will allow the door phone that comes with it to ring in on a c.o. port and until it's answered and even cover to voicemail if setup.

And if not a Door Phone Controller, then an external relay for toggling things such as a 110V motor-driven sliding gate.

Ordinary electronic door latches are 12V or 24V, which is OK to run straight through the Partner's built-in contact closure. However, the Partner seems particularly sensitive to spikes and such, so my personal preference is to run it through the Controller anyway.

I believe the Partner Door Phone Controller is rated for switching circuits up to 400V.

Thanks for all your replies, my only concern with the Door Phone Controller, it seems that to control a door lock, the door phone needs to be in use. My problem is that there is a door phone at the front door, but the garage door(entry door in the garage, not actual garage door) doesn't have a door phone, but does have the electronic strike.

Can I open the garage door without a door phone call being made from there? The contact closure would give me one button access to the doors, while the controller seems to need to be off-hook and then press *-something.

Thanks again for all your replies, they are very much appreciated!

Yes. Program a line buuton on the phone that the door phone controller is hooked up to. touch it and use the codes provided by the controller.
