Recently I have been cleaning out the hard drive and have deleated lots of stuff. After
that some programs can't detect that I have either of my two cd-rom drives. I can still
use the drives though. When ever I put a cd in the dive everything works fine. Does
anyone have any idea what file/files I could have deleted?

What sort of programs, are they games or stuff like Word, Excel, etc.

If they are games, they may have their own config files to tell them where the cd's are to be found, and you may have deleted them.

c:\windows\command\mscdex.exe is the only file you need for your CD access

You can, but don't need to have that as a line in your autoexec.bat... if your system is a little pissy like my home PC then it may be worthwhile to add it as the first line in your autoexec.bat file so Windows knows it HAS to load it.

Other than that I'd need more specific information on the issue because your complaint doesn't make a whole lotta sense otherwise (
