I'm never quite sure about backwards compatibilty on old Mobos and new graphic cards.
This person has an old PII running on an AX6BC board but wants to do some graphics stuff that needs more than his processor and ram can help with, so he got an MSI FX5200 (NVidia chip I think) but the specs say it wants a 4x-8x AGP slot. My research shows the motherboard is rated at 2x, so short of just running slower, is it even compatible? I think the voltage is the same for 2x and 4x. I'd hate to plug it in and ruin either the card or Mobo.
Any friendly suggestions are appreciated.
