Some Images missing

We just moved a website to another host, and a couple of the jpg's dont seem to download into browsers (everthing is ok when previewing in local browser.
I notice that the downloading counter get to 0 before the missing image. in other words the counter does not include all the images.
If you address the file directly e.g.

http://host/site/image.jpg

it downloads OK and shopws its wher it should be with the other images. Can anyone help?

Thanks for that but unfortunatly the problem does seem to be related to the site, rather than the machine where it is being viewed, In fact I have looked at the site on 4 differnt machines so far all show exactly the same missng jpg's There is a place holder and red cross but clicking this does not bring in the picture.
