I have a fully patched XP machine runnig AVG antivirus. When I hit some webpages there will be and error the reads, "Page cannot be displayed" however the rest of the page is just fine. Looks like it is an advertisement or something. I have tried resetting my security setting within IE and no luck. Also tried resetting defaults on internet options advanced tab, no luck.

If your running a software firewall such as zone alarm or norton or something of the like check on them as alot of them have banner blocking features that sometimes block other things. Also like pop up blockers. So give those a shot let us know if it helps or not.

The only firewall I have is the XP one. I have turned it off and I still have the same problem. I downloaded Firefox and this works fine which leads me to beleive I either have a setting in IE that is wrong or there is a registry key that is missing or has incorrect data.

What about Spybot Search & Destroy or any pop-up blockers?

at my work the same thing happens with certain website but this is due to certain proxy settings that it has set up. what type of internet connection do you use if your on broadband could be the culprit or if you use a proxy server.

Some people make things happen, some people watch things happen, while others wonder what happened.

Hi,

Did you try deleting cookies?
Delete cookies and uncheck third party browser extensions in Internet options >> Advanced tab
Check if this solves the issue. Also check if this issue persists with all the websites.

I have tried all the things listed above except disabling Flash. I need Flash for some of the sites I go to. I still have the problem. I also tried logging in as a different user. No luck.

Not all webpages have this problem. I can see the problem on

that link i posted was not for you to follow and disable, it was to follow and see if someone had entered that to disable flash. If so someone could delete it and it work again.
