I originally posted this question, thread215-678188, in the HTML and CSS forum and am posting it here on their recommendation. I uninstalled Norton Anti Virus (which did include deleting some Symantec folders from the registry) because of a problem with the software(their suggestion) and when I was done I found some hyperlinks worked and some didn't. For example if I click on the link above for the thread I started, I don't go anywhere. In the HTML and CSS thread someone posted a link to this forum but when I clicked on it, nothing happened. It just sits there as though I didn't do anything. But if I click on any of the links in my Threadminder, things work fine. So what I would like to determine is "What is the difference between different hyperlinks that one would work and another won't?" I would like to be able to somehow communicate the problem to Norton in more than a general term to try and resolve the issue.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.

If nothing happens when you click a link:
Open Windows Explorer.
Go to Tools | Folder Options | File Types.
Scroll down to URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol and select it.
Click Edit or Advanced, depending on your Windows version.
Select 'open'.
Click Edit.

"Application used to perform this action" should read:

"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome
(Check the path to iexplore.exe to make sure that is correct and use the double quotes.)

DDE should be checked and in the boxes below it you should have:

#1:
"%1",,-1,0,,,,
#2
IExplore
#3 (blank)

#4

URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy should be the same.

Sometimes it is necessary to uncheck Use DDE

Thanks for the response. We did get this corrected yesterday morning. I ended up reinstalling IE (something I thought I had done) and that fixed the problem.
