Needing some basic firewall help. But first let me describe my system...

linux RH7.1 box with 2 NIC cards (one for adsl, one connected to win98 box via hub and using samba.) that's it.

my problem is that if I enable any level of firewall protection using 'lokkit', I can't start /usr/sbin/adsl-start to log onto the internet (i have a dynamic IP assigned by my ISP.)

I need some level of firewall protection that allows me to:
a. log onto the internet
b. use a web browser
c. use ssh2
d. use samba

any help would be very appreciated. thanks.

Did you configure your firewall to allow you to access some port for web,ssh and samba ?
If you still got to use lokkit from linux 7.1
I can suggest you to use firestarter firewall (open source firewall). This firewall is more user friendly.
You can search firestarter from internet.Because I forgot the website.Maybe this firewall will help you to solve the problem.
