Some Fills disapear in pagemaker 6.5

I don't know specifically which kind of fill you wan't to have, but i see a solution for your problem.
First create the kind of fill you wan't in illustrator or an other program, save it as an EPS format.
Go to pagemaker and use in the Window menu the show palettes option.
A new window will appear and on the top right you have a fly-out menuwith the possibility to create a new library.
Place the EPS or Tiff format in your pagemaker document and drag it to the library. Now this fill or whatever is available in your document.
You can create as much libraries as you want.
