Some DLT tapes show as "Cleaning Media"

Older tapes being listed as "cleaning media" when inserted.
The slot(s) has not been designated for a cleaning tape.
New tapes are OK.
Secondarily, when attempting to inventory older tapes, the library (HP Sure Stor) seizes and needs to be powered down.
Again, no problem with new(er)tapes.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

I don't have your answer, but for anyone else reading this thread he added this in a separate thread (Thread481-648771).

He's using:
Backup Exec version 8.6, build 3878

If the older tapes have been used with other backup software, you should first erase all the tapes.
