Greetings everyone. I'm new here and would like your expert advice for a siemens 3000 hipath pbx system. We had a T1 card go bad (red light)for the system and could no longer get calls or dial out. So we ordered a new card to replace it. In the meantime we tried reseating the cards and the motherboard of the system. The problem now is that the mother board is now blinking red and all of our phones no longer has a normal US dial tone but instead it has short beeping sounds. We can still call internally but all the extensions have all been changed and the language on the phone is now in German. I have managed to get all the phones to show in English from the main operators phone console but all the extensions are now all different. I am assuming that it somehow got accidentally factory reset and that is what has happened. We can not dail into it as it needs the proper dail tone. We tried to use a null modem cable but the message we get is PBX is offline. The motherboard blinks red currently and so there is no way to communicate with the PBX. We should be getting the T1 card In sometime today. My question is will the T1 card give us the correct dail tone to call into the system once it is put in? I noticed that there is a 16 mb scandisk sim card on the mother board which can slide in and out really easily. Is the data and settings stored on that? If that is needed to get the US dail tone can I format the disk and put it back on to the motherboard so that I can upload the settings back on to it? Is there a special dail code combination that I need to use to call out with the current German default settings? Any info would be appreciated! Thank you!

With any luck you have/had a skilled operator at some point that was making regular backups to .KDS files somewhere on floppy disks or a computer someplace. You need to fire up Assistant C or Assitant E or whatever management tool you have and load the most recent .KDS file. Then upload it into your system and that should restore it to where it was - assuming all of the boards are back in the slots they originally came in. The trick with those systems is when you use the reset switch you should just flip it and let go. If you hold it down 2 or 3 seconds it will default the system back to the original german test configuration.

If you don't have any kind of backups you will have to probably reprogram the whole thing by hand. I would try to find out who took care of it before you and where they kept their stuff or what PC they were using for Administration. If Assistant asks you for a login and password it is typically 31994 for both.

Thank you for your reply. It did get flipped to the German configuration because we had held it down for more than a few seconds. That is really now the problem. I do have a backup, however, being in that German default setting, we are not getting the right dial tone to reconnect to the system via a modem to upload the backup. I put in the new T1 card today but the motherboard still blinks red and the dail tone is still short beeps instead of a long tone. The new T1 card is also red now and so I would be assuming that the T1 card doesn't see the motherboard because of it not configured for the US. Is there a code that we can put into the manager when dialing through the modem to dial direct to the MOD interface? When we dial from the hipath phones 890 I can hear the modem sound in the background. If we hook the laptop with manager on it and try the same number it cannot dial to the system because of the beeps. Any thing I can do to get that to talk to each other?

I used to have this whole procedure written down, but after getting rid of my 150 early last year, and all my older 9006 equipment I have been cleaning out my office and I don't think I have it - unless it is still written on the wall on sharpie in the clinic that used to have the 150 - I had it labelled "oh $hit procedure".

Ideally you need to have one of the Optiset Memory phones with the keyboard on it, but some of the stuff you can do from a Optiset/Optipoint Advanced. You need to go to the (digital) phone that is connected to the first SLMO port in the system and dial * 9 5 on that phone. If all the language stuff comes up in German I believe the first 4 questions it asks you are to enter the login and password and then change the login and password. I remember the first thing being having to enter 31994 (check), 31994 (check), 31994 (check), 31994 (check) - basically 31994 is the login and password, but when it asks you to change it you want to leave it the same.

Then you have to navigate the menus to find the setting for the phone language and change that to English, and then once you can actually read the menus now you want to find the system setting and change that to US/English.

Like I said, I can't remember all of it as it has been so long. Hopefully one of the folks that still works on that stuff regularly will be along soon and can help with the rest.
