I have two Citrix Metaframe 1.8 servers on WTS with the first one to become the Master Browser and the second set to never become the Master Browser.

The apps located on the second server don't appear unless the user refreshes (and even that happens pretty sporadically). The apps on the first server appear all the time with no problems.

Any way to set this up so that all apps on both servers show up automatically without refreshing? Many thanks!

Try setting the second server to "No Preference". That way it can become a backup browser.

What's almost certainly happening here is that the apps are not making it to the Master Browser's list correctly, so doing this may help.

Are the servers located on the same subnet? Are they physically connected to the same hub?

Are the DNS settings correct?

Do you have Load-Balancing?

Which Citrix/Micorosft Service Packs are you running? Which ICA Clients? Try upgrading to the latest version (if you are not already) of all of these.

I hope these questions help

Hmm... I was sure that some of these would have worked. I set it to No Preference. Is there a way to check that state of a MetaFrame server to see if it's the Master or a backup browser? Some of my users are still not able to see apps on the second server. :(

qserver reports server status, and indicates Master Browser, Backup Browser and Gateway with M, B and G flags respectively.

Typing qserver /? will give you a list of options for this tool.

One thing on a tangent, tread carefully when upgrading to the latest client, 779 we find is about the best. the 910 client stuffs up 'our' application. just a thought.
pritch.

This is what happens when you get systems dumped on you. :)

I updated both servers to Metaframe 1.8 SP2 and distributed the latest Win32 client (6.0.910). It worked!

Thanks everyone!
