Solution req'd - print and duplicate to file

I am looking for a simple solution:

I have a 3rd party app that has a dedicated printer for certain deals that produces hard copies on execution of a deal.

I need a simple solution that in addition to keeping the current set-up (hard copy) captures the print and saves to electronic readable file - the end game is that I need to get the data from the file to propogate to another 3rd party app. Anyone got any bright ideas?
