solitaire problem

hi

whenever i try to open solitaire in windows 98 it gives me a error stating that the program performed as illegal operation
i tried uninstalling and reinstalling but no use.

helpme out

Try deleting this file Cards.dll from your Windows/System directory (make sure you make a copy of it somewhere - just in case) The file contains the card backs. It may be corrupt. Mike

I had this problem after installing a "pop-up stopper". I uninstalled the program and it fixed my Solitare game. Have you installed any type of program lately? If so, you might want to uninstall it. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....."

I dont have any popup stoppers and i tried deleting cards.dll and reinstalling but it didnot help

Do a Google search on "solitaire causes illegal operation". There are several instances listed. Maybe one of them might help. "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....."

Do you have McAfee installed? We ran into problems with solitare when a bad set of .dat files were sent out by McAfee.

Had this problem before when the wrong mouse drivers where installed. I put the right drivers in and it works fine now.

I had this problem once for a customer, sort of...from what I have read it seems there are multiple causes, but I believe that comet cursor was the problem (off the top of my head). Uninstall that and give it a go...I'll keep looking.

Or...I just looked again, sorry for the double post. Remove Bonzai Buddy too. That only caused problems for everyone.

i dont have any of those programs installed

also i use mouse drivers included with windows98

no special drivers

i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling
many times
i even reinstalled windows
but to noeffect

I'm no expert, but maybe you have a virus on your computer that's changing the game's files. If you don't have any antivirus programs installed go to

http://housecall.antivirus.com/

and it'll do an online check for you.
