Hi,

I've recently downloaded the patch cluster for Solaris 2.6 for Sparc then ran ./install-cluster.

Most patches failed to install, with a return code 8. I don't know what this means. Running install-cluster for all the patches OR patching it individually bears the same error below.
---snip----
One or more patch packages included in
105755-08 are not installed on this system.

Patchadd is terminating.
----snip----

Then I saw the error below. I tried installing the patch indicated, patch no. 106125, but I got the same error above.
----snip----
106301-01
pkgparam: ERROR: unable to locate parameter information for "/var/sadm/pkg/SUNWs
New versions of /usr/sbin/patchadd and /usr/sbin/patchrm exist
that provide essential bug fixes and a speed enhancement.
Please install patch 106125 for significant patch
installation improvements.
----snip----

Please help. Thanks. Louie C.

I've never seen the second error before so I can't offer much help on that one. As for the first error...The first error you are receiving is generated when you try to install a patch for a specific software within the OS (i.e. SUNWatm, SUNWxxx, etc) but that software is not installed on your machine. Basically, you don't need that patch, so it skips over it.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Hi Josh,

Reason I'm asking is one support personnel for an application we're using is asking me to download patch 105284-46 w/c he says will fix a bug in the application, w/c was working before. And the patch available at sunsolve is 105284-47 w/c sort of obsoletes that other patch. Seems that that person is giving me the wrong solution.

Might you be able to help me with that problem?

Thanks Louie C.
