Solaris on Intel / Install / Hardware Compat. / new models

Struggling to install Sol 8 onto a pc here. When selecting "select device to boot from" get a "cant mount blah blah" when I select the cd. It is a bootable cd drive, but doesn't appear in the HCL, so I guess that could be the problem ?

Looking through the hcl, there are no cd's listed that my local dealer sells. Generally speaking, is a newer version of a listed drive ok, e.g. if the hcl says that a NEC3000 cd is ok, would a 3001B or a 3002 do ?
