Even though both Dell and Sun say it's not a supported configuration, I would like to get Solaris 10 installed on a Dell PowerVault NF500.
I download the latest version of Solaris 10 x86 (5/09), boot off it, and it goes to a grub> prompt where various commands I've tried don't do anything but reboot the machine again.
I used an earlier version of Solaris 10 x86/x64 (1/06), boot off it, it goes to a grub *menu* where I choose Solaris, tell it to load drivers, where I have some "megasas" drivers on a CD. It complains that my disk is too large for a 32-bit kernel (I'm loading an x64 DVD), but it goes on. It seems to do an install (I can see files being loaded in /a), then reboots and acts as if nothing happened. It says there's no OS and no disks.
Has anyone succesfully done this? What drivers do I need? Is there something wrong with my Solaris installation download?
Thanks!
