I have tried to install solaris 2.6 on a Sparc Ultra 10 using evey command possible that i can find off of the internet and in books as well. I'm trying to boot/install the OS off of a CD. the command that seems to get the best responce is "boot cdrom /platform/sun4u/kernel/unix" when i run this line, the system reboots, accesses the cdrom and looks for the information then kicks back a "KRTLD: Error durring initial load/link phase" that is as far as i can get with this. am i doing something wrong? To cut out some of the questions i have used "boot sd(0,6,2)", no-go. i have used "boot cdrom -install", no-go. i have used "boot cdrom /kernel/unix", no-go. and just about every combonation of all 3 of those possible. (i have been messing with this for over a week now so i think i have hit all combonations). PLEASE HELP!!! hehe Thanks ahead of time

you checked your cabling, that the cdrom is id 6, that other devices are working, that your bios supports your cdrom (should do but we had one that didn't), that the cdrom drive is not faulty and that the cdrom you're using is not faulty ...

if they all seem to be working, you might, just might, have a problem with the components ... but you'll have to try and see if it can be anything else first.
