Hi there,

We have a Windows 2000 Server that we connect to from Sun workstations (Using Citrix ICAClient) and some NT4 workstations (using Terminal services client).

I followed Microsoft's Instructions on how to reset the license database on the server. Then I applied the TS Hotfix so that licenses would expire after 50 to 90 days. I then got MS to reissue our 55 licenses. Ok so far....

Ok, so now at this stage I have a blank database with 55 available licenses. When clients connect, it appears a license is not issued if that client had a license before... if it didnt have a license before then it grabs a temp license on its first connection, and then this license is upgraded to a full license that times out after 50 to 90 days as per the hotfix blurb.

I found a Q article that describes how to remove the CAL info from a windows client by editing the registry and removing a key. This works a treat on windows machines. They grab a license the next time they connect. Problem solved .. well 50% of it anyway.

The problem that remains is the question of where the citrix ICA client stores the CAL info. I need to remove this info to force the client to request another license.

I appreciate any help... I have been working on this for quite some time now ... MS Support suggest contacting SUN, but it isnt really their problem afaik... its down to citrix!

Hi!
As you already found out the licensing information for Windows clients is stored in the loacal client registry. Since non-windows clients don't have a registry instead the CAL i stored in the MetaFrame server registry in the following key.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\MSLicensing
For more information on this se this Citrix knowledge base document:
"The parenthesis should be included in the adress.
I hope this helps
