Is there an mt command that simply ejects a cartridge?

Thank you...

How about:
mt -f /path/to/tape offline

Please also see the man pages (man mt)

I hope that helps.

Mike042 and Spamly,

Thanks for your quick answers! Both methods work. I guess I didn't read clearly enough the MT man page. I'm a newbie to Unix, so pls pardon the dumb questions.

I'd like to ask another related (tape drive) question: I've found a command in one of the scripts on the box that reads the TOC on a tape with the command tar tvf /dev/rmt/0n. It works fine in the script, but when I try it from the command line, I get a "directory checksum error". I'm sure it is something I'm not understanding, but any explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
