Hi
Has anyone yet installed the beta version of solaris 9 yet.
I have, however I have not really noticed any differences compaerd to 8.
The only difference i notcied was a visual one.
The CDE logo has changed, thats about it.
And some updated apps.

Not much difference.
Has anyone else seen any significant changes to 9.

thanks.

You problaby already see this from Sun Solaris 9 Beta information page:

Integrated iPlanet[tm] Directory Server: the iPlanet Directory Server has been integrated into Solaris 9 OE to provide native LDAP services.

Improved performance and scalability: an improved threading library and multiple page size support improve both the raw performance and the ability to use additional CPU resources, particularly for large, multi-threaded applications

New security features: Kerberos 5 and Secure Shell for sysadmins, new APIs -- including /dev/random -- for developers

Solaris[tm] Volume Manager: fully-integrated volume management software for setting up and maintaining concatenated, striped, and mirrored disk volumes

Solaris[tm] Resource Manager: integrated resource management features for controlling and allocating system resources

... not bad ! and finaly a "/dev/random" !

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

Also - no intel support from version 9.
Intel support was crap anyway
