All,

How do I know Solaris 8 patch number on my Unix server? I would like to know my current patch number before I put the latest patch on. I did uname -a and it gave me the OS version but no patch version.....

Thanks,
BMW

The uname -a output should look something like this:

[tt]SunOS myhostname 5.8 Generic_108528-18 sun4m sparc SUNW,SPARCstation-20[/tt]

108528-18 is the revision of the currently installed Kernel Jumbo Patch (KJP). If it just has Generic it is the original version of the operating system, without any patches at all (a rare sight).

The KJP is just one of many patches on the system though; use showrev -p to check the complete list of patches you have installed. Annihilannic.

Annihilannic,

Got it !!!! Thank you for your help!!!
