Hi,
I am currently at the step of creating the swap with the web start installation. The following is the current partition for my 80GB HD:
Start END LENGTH
1. IFS:NTFS 0 7619 7620
2. Active X86BOOT 7620 8810 1191
3. Solaris 8811 17543 8735
The default starting cylinder for swap is 3 (the size is 512 MB), I got this sick feeling in my stomach that it may not be a good starting point because that's where my Win2K OS is. The manual selection is giving me anywhere between 3 to 8466 cylinder to choose as the starting cylinder. Can anyone suggest a good number?
Also, should I have created a couple more Solaris partition? I have been reading some posts here and it seemed a good practice to have different file systems for the root (/) and others such as /export/home/user and /var. Does this have anything to do with putting these directories on different partition? I am not clear as to how to put the directories on different file systems.
Thanks for any help.
Mike
