Hi guys,

I tried to install solaris 8 intel on my pc and I could successfully load the bootable CD, partition the HD (1% X86-bootable [active], 30% Solaris, and 69% Solaris). Then I answered "yes" to allow a 512MB swap being created in the front area. Also I passed the point where all the mini-root (and other necessary files) are copied over to the swap area. The problem occurs when the message "please remove media (CD or disks) and press enter to reboot. If CD, please wait after the system reset." appears. I waited about 10 minutes and still couldn't get my CD out as the cdrom dive was not responding. Then I had to press "enter" and took out CD while it's rebooting (after passing BIOS), and I got error message "Bad PBR Sig". Can somebody please please help me on this one? Thank you.

When you put the DOSBIG partition at the beginning of the disk, the system will fail to boot into the cd0 miniroot. Following err message will appear:
Bad PBR Sig.

If you put the DOSBIG partition at the end of the disk, the system will boot into the cd0 miniroot without problem.

As noted, limit the size of non-Solaris partitions, or move beyond the Solaris boot partition and Solaris partition

for example:

you can move your partition with Partition Magic X.x
