We have a DNS server at our network, but since I was not able to manually add a DNS entry, I could not use DNS for setting up the network, so I used none.

I manually added the /etc/defaulrouter entry
entered DNS in /etc/nsswitch.conf
and entered the DNS server addresses in /etc/resolv.conf

If I try to share a directory and then start nfs.server I get all kinds of errors.
SVC_TLI_CREATE could not bind to requested address
cannot establish NFS service over /dev/tcp (and /dev/tcp6) transport setup problem.

I can connect to other machines. I can telnet into that machine from a Windows system, I can browse the intraweb and internet, so that all functions fine.

Any ideas ?

"SVC_TLI_CREATE could not bind to requested address" error is generated with automountd. When automountd daemon is already running and you try to run it again. For this, either kill the automountd process or run /etc/init.d/autofs stop.

"cannot establish NFS service over /dev/tcp (and /dev/tcp6) transport setup problem" is result of having nfsd running already. Kill and restart the script.

Hope it will help.
