Hi all,

I've recently upgraded an E4000 from Solaris 2.6 to 8. We've had a lot of issues performing the upgrade but it's finally back with Solaris 8, but I keep getting the recurring error 'couldn't set locale correctly' !!!

Any ideas ???

Throughout the installation process (which I've done maybe 500 times, though not for an upgrade) I entered all the normal info regarding timezone etc..

Look forward to hearing from someone...

Cheers
Darren

maybe it is bug ID 4266192, this problem only happens with upgrade and if you use CDs.
run command locale if you got something like:
LANG=en_US
LC_TYPE="C"
LC_NUMERIC="C"
LC_TIME="C"
LC_COLLATE="C"
LC_MONTERARY="C"
LC_MESSAGES="C"
LC_ALL=

If you look "/usr/lib/locale" en_US is not available Unfortunately, en_US is not a valid locale to set after you install CD1. This need to be fixed...
If you do the same upgrade with CD0, when you are in the Geo screen, en_US was picked for you automatically and you will not get complain about unable to set locale correctly.
if this is your case as a workaround, if you have en_US locales , you have to select en_US in the Geo region screen
under North America.

Regards,

Carlos Almeida,

Thanks Carlos,

After I wrote this message I found the locale file. It had a mixture of en_US and en_UK entries all with the incorrect number, so I managed to change the entries and get it sorted.

Thanks anywayz for your help.
