solaris 10.

[CAF786]

I just jumped this system with sol10. The disk size is 18G
and I have partitiot the / as 5g, /var 4g, /opt free and swap as 7G....but I donot know why swap shows 18G when I do df -h or df -k. From the format command the
partition table shows swap size 7G.

How much memory does the system have?
(My guess would be 12GB)

My understanding is that df reports stats about filesystems. Swap areas are 'special-case' filesystems and can occupy memory (that not reserved for the OS) and disk (swap space on partition 1). It looks like you have approx 11GB 'unreserved' memory plus 7GB disk swapspace.
(If you don't have 12GB memory, then my theory is blown out of the water!!!)

My Solaris 10 displays df swap correctly. Seems you have something strange there. No idea what it is though.
