I am having a very perplexing problem installing Solaris 10 x86 u6 on a Dell Dimension 2400.

First the hw specs:

Dell Dimension 2400 BIOS A05
512MB RAM
P4 2.4 GHz
80 GB IDE

Ok...pretty straightforward setup. Worked with XP and Cent0S 4

What is happening is that the install is hanging on boot. I appended -v and the last thing I got was

SunOS Release 5.10 Version Generic_127138-09 32-bit
blah
blah
blah
pseudo-device: ppm9
ppm0 is /pseudo/ppm@0
ramdisk0 at root
ramdisk0 is /ramdisk
SMBIOS v2.3 loaded (1919 bytes)/cpus (cpunex0) online

and that's it. nothing more, no errors, nothing

I have googled literally everything on the screen and haven't come up with anything.

Also, I have tried OpenSolaris 2008.11 (which is "Reported to Work" on HCL for this hardware) and it just reboots after grub. In fact, it happens so fast, I cannot tell what is coming up on the screen.

I am at a total loss here. I have Sol10 installed at work on a two Dell PE 2450's (PIII CPU) and a generic white box. I cannot figure out for the life of me why this is no go.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
