Hello everyone ! I don't have an external tape drive and need to backup the operating system on a Sun Solaris server. It's a Sun Fire V240 Ultrasparc server with two SCSI drives. I'm not a F/T Unix admin so my thought is to mirror drive 1 to drive 2, with a third removable hard drive available, swap out each time I make a backup of the operating system, along with the Oracle server and databases backed up too. Does this sound feasible or not? How are others handling this out there? The owner doesn't want to purchase an external tape drive and wants to store the backups off-site, maybe on another system (possibly Windows as backup server) remotely. I have a deadline of tomorrow 11/9/2006 with a solution, so I'm really under the timecrunch!! I accept anyone and everyone to post a solution. Thanks !!! :)

You could just create ufsdump backups of the filesystems on the second disk?

Annihilannic.
