Hi all,

I have a V240 with Solaris10, bge cards enabled with IPMP.
When rebooting this box (DBAs testing new app so getting rebooted often) the bge cards fail and I consequently have no network. I can reset these through the sc by setting auto negotiate to 1, however, I cannot understand why this keeps happening. Networks deny any problems on the switch.

Thanks

Is there a /platform/`uname -m`/kernel/drv/bge.conf on the system? If not, try creating one containing the following:

[tt]adv-autoneg-cap=1[/tt]

Hi Anni,

Thanks for the quick response. I do have the bge.conf file.
What I have found is that it makes no difference whether auto neg is set to either 1 or 0. Just as long as I run the ndd -set from the sc things come back to life.
I've set this up to toggle them during boot, but still no joy.

Output of bge.conf below;
# Overide 100 full for interconnects

name="bge" parent="/pci@1f,700000" unit-address="2" adv_autoneg_cap=0 adv_1000fdx_cap=1 adv_1000hdx_cap=0 adv_100fdx_cap=0 adv_100hdx_cap=0 adv_10fdx_cap=0 adv_10hdx_cap=0;

Thanks for your help.

What speed do they autonegotiate to? Have you tried forcing it to those settings instead?

Hi Anni,

I'm checking this out with my Network boys. Thanks again for the assistance.

Alan

Anni, thanks for all your pointers for this.
Problem was an intermittent error on the port.

Damn networks, worse than DBA's.
