I have 2 DLT Tape Drives. One, I used to have in a Library, until the picker arm failed, and we decided to just place the DLT drive itself into a server. I had 10 tapes that I used in this library, and now I have a new tape drive on a new server on to which I want to use the tapes. I am able to read the tapes in Backup Exec OK, but when I try to write or erase them, I get a "Media is Write Protected" error. I checked the physical write protection, and it is not turned on. I am able to write and erase these tapes fine in the original DLT drive. I have erased the tapes several times to no avail as well as used 2000's built-in backup to erase the tape, and an ARCServeIT demo to erase the tape and performed a long format in ARCServeIT as well. After doing all of this, I am still unable to write anything to these tapes and receive the same error message. I have always set the Backup Exec overwrite options to "None" and unchecked the prompt box. Do not know what else to check or do to get these tapes working on my new drive.
