Is there a software upgrade path from 8.6 to version 12 for our two W2K server environment? One server and one remote agent. We are looking at moving from tape to removable hard disk.

I've been offered the upgrade from Quikstart that comes with the removable hard drive unit consisting of the Windows server crossgrade plus the remote agent kit. Is there a remote agent upgrade as that component seems to cost more than the 12 upgrade after buying Quikstart?

If you plan to upgrade the installation from 8.6 you will need to upgrade 8.6 to 10d in eval then upgrade 10 to 12. If I remeber correctly quickstart doesnt support backing up a remote server so you would need to purchase the core BE 12 and a remote agent cal

Make sure you have a full backup copy of data. Uninstall previouse versions of BE. Install 12d and go to your legacy box and uninstall 8x agent, reboot o to services and make sure it's clean. Push a 12d agent and it should work.
