In the Download Software Updates Wizard, I'm trying to download the patches selected through the SMS console on my system. I'm getting an "Error 407", which I believe is an authentication error. I have IE opened and out on the web. Also tried putting the Patchdownloader.ini on my system with the authentication info-still didn't work. When I try this on the server, I'm getting "Error 403", which is access denied. We have opened port 80 on the server and the Sync Host is updating the .xml file automatically. Any ideas why I can't automatically download through this wizard? BTW, I have full permissions on the folder I'm trying to write. Thanks!

I'm also getting the Error 407 when downloading the SUS packages (automatically). This happens when I create an SMS SUS package and choose download automatically.

I have already verified that HTTP 1.1 and HTTP 1.1 through Proxy is enabled in IE ADVANCED PROPERTIES.

Is anyone else running into this?

I have an SMS 2.0 site and SUS auto downloads work fine...but my SMS 2003 doesn't want to download the MS security patches...

-thanks..

Found the answer...

need to find this file on your SMS site server:

<drive letter.:\sms\bin\i386\00000409\patchdownloader.exe file

Run this command to program your proxy settings...

patchdownloader.exe /s:<smsservername>:80 /u:<proxyusername>

It will then ask you for the password twice...

Then re-try to download the SUS package...
