Software to monitor people and/or software applications? 1

Is there some sort of software out there that I can monitor users over a WAN and also perhaps monitor who is accessing certain software and doing what with it? I am having some slight problems with one of the locations having software tampered with so i'd like to be able to keep an eye on it and otherwise id like to be able to see what certain workers are doing (or lack thereof I might say!)

Check out TripWire. You can install it and have it auto-magically watch certain files for changes.

If you want to snifff and reconstruct packets over a WAN, then check out IRIS.
