Can anyone tell me the difference between "offer-options" A and B? My switch has offer options set to Category: B and Activate offer: Y.

Under "Customer-options", I have an entry "maximum ports: 5". What does this mean?

Most of my "customer-options" are set to "N". Are any of these options changeable by the end user under a craft, inads or super-user login? I know that Avaya has to turn on some of these, but can an authorized Avaya dealer activate any of the features?

Thanks for any help you can give me on this. Jim

Options are purchased and pre set before Avaya delivers the equipment, unless it's an Avaya tech from Avaya itself and not a subcontractor they may set that option, in your customer options those fields are RTU right to use and require paying a fee for each one, they can only be set by Avaya unless you purchase anything 9.5 and below gray market. at that point you can change anything you want, but is IS ILLEGAL from Avaya point of view and I do not recommend taking that risk yourself. RTU's are extremely expensive. If by chance you were able to reset the options field you will lose ALL translations and have to start from scratch.

Offer option "A" is ECS and Offer option "B" is BCS. BCS is basically a pre-defined set of features that was specifically set up to compete in the Hotel/Motel sector. If your switch is set to offer option "B" and you are showing 5 ports set than I would suggest contacting Avaya to have this fixed. The offer "B" option would never have these settings. Of course, this is assuming that this switch is legally licensed. James Middleton
