I'm looking for a clearly stated software/media/downloading policy for a small (75 Users) network. I'm looking for something that addresses bringing in disks from the outside, trying to load vendor software without admin's knowledge, and downloading apps from the Internet, and using them in company equipment. The need for scanning for viruses should be addressed.
Any responses will be appreciated.

You can find some starter ideas in the Corporate Desktop Integration forum in a post started by DomitianX on 1/4/00 titles "Corporate Desktop Software Policies". Write this: "If you try to install illegal software you will place the company at great risk and you will be fired. If you create a virus threat to the companay you will be fired."
Policies, policies... some protect our jobs, some protect our civilization. Sometimes the best answer is the most obvious answer. Make it short and sweet, say NO.
